Grant really shines in the rousing finale to her Otherworldly trilogy as she skillfully creates sympathy for Reef as he relearns what it is to be human, and Evie matures, leaving insecurity behind to become a strong, vibrant personality with passion for a cause in which she truly believes. The kids are realistic, the dog is great, and the underlying social issues lend complexity and interest to this very enjoyable Earth-based science fiction romance between two opinionated persons from different cultures.
